It’s been a while since I last posted a Headphones in Pictures blog post, but as you may have seen I tried keeping up the pace with reviews. I recently started working again as editor, this time at one of Italy’s largest online news outlets about technology and that, together with exams at university, kept me from posting more content here. Without further ado I’m going to introduce you to today’s stars: the renowned Venture Electronics Asura 2.0 and the Topping NX1s.
Topping NX1s
The latter is the latest entry in Topping’s lineup of portable amplifiers. Its shell is purely made of aluminium and its peculiar design is clean and modern. The Topping NX1s is also very small and portable, so it fits wherever a mobile phone fits. I can’t really comment on its audio prowess yet as I just started testing it, but the initial impact is very positive. Considering it is in the lowest segment of the market (its price is less than $50) it seems a very agreeable device. Expect a review in the coming weeks! I also had a chance at interviewing Hailin from Topping: please read into it if you want further details on what’s coming from the Chinese firm!
VE Asura 2.0
As for the Venture Electronics Asura 2.0, they need no formal introduction as they’re quite famous among audiophile circles. They’re a step up from the VE Monk Plus, and quite a big one! It’s incredible what Lee has been able to do with these. They’ve quickly become one of my favourites earphones and my go-to earbud when I want to listen something dynamic and energetic. They’re also quite comfortable. You can expect a review soon (I’m in the process of writing the last few bits and reviewing it before publication), and in the meantime you can read the interview with Lee. You can also check VE’s page on the Asura 2.0 if you want more details.
